COMMUNITY RESPONDER AWARDED
A Gloucestershire man has been given an award for more than 12,000 hours of service as a community first responder in the Tewkesbury area.
Marshall Jones, 68, from Northway, received the award from world equestrian champion Zara Phillips.
Mr Jones said it was nice to be thanked. "I do what I can because it helps others and I enjoy the work."
Community responders are specially trained to give vital first aid treatment before an ambulance arrives.
There are more than 100 responders in the Gloucestershire scheme, which is run in partnership with the Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) and St John Ambulance.
'Great achievement'
