Dr Will Orr, Clinical Lead for the Thames Valley Cardiac Network, said: “Huge advances in the treatment of heart attack have been made in the last 20 years, but many people still die before getting help. We hope that James Bond’s life being saved by a defibrillator in Casino Royale will raise awareness of this issue and encourage a wider range of people to join our Community Responder programmes.
” Richard Davies of South Central Ambulance NHS Trust, said: "In the ambulance service we know only too well that if nothing is done prior to our arrival the chances of saving a patient’s life are significantly reduced. Early defibrillation significantly improves survival rates and with modern automated defibrillators life-saving skills are available to almost anyone."
