Gosport Community Responder are members of the public who volunteer to help their community by responding to medical emergencies. South Central Ambulance Service Trust trains us in order that we can respond to medical emergencies received by the 999 system in our own communities before the arrival of an emergency ambulance.
Gosport Community Responders do not replace the response from the Ambulance service we compliment the response you receive and try to reduce the time you wait for medical assistance.
In many cases, the team’s intervention can literally mean the difference between life and death.
In cases of cardiac arrest, a patient's heart literally stops - without defibrillation their chances of survival decreases by 10% for every minute that goes by. Community Responders are trained to use automatic defibrillators and can therefore provide this vital intervention.
